Drink Some Tea, Eat Some Garlic!

“Yeah, yeah, we know, mom,  drink tea, eat, eat garlic,” my daughter wistfully mumbles as she walks away.  Because if my kids (being grown up) happened to mention that they were sick or had a sore throat, I always would say, “Are you drinking tea? Are you eating garlic?” Now they just shake their heads mumbling, “Yeah, we know, mom.”

But either they are doing just that or not getting sick anymore.  I don’t get those calls anymore.  Well…it could be also that they are in their thirties now.

But then it happened, the other day when the scheduler at work (who is probably a little younger that my children are now) mentioned that she wasn’t feeling too well.

Afterwards, my mothering instincts kicked in and I just wanted to call that scheduler and tell her to drink tea and eat garlic.  Then, I wondered how that would sound (being that she is from work.)  So, I restrained myself from making a phone call even though it kept coming back to my mind.

Later, I told this episode to my kids, and my sister ( who is a supervisor on a job) and my sister said with amusement that I made a wise choice.

NKJV Ephesians 5:15, 16, 17  See then that you walk circumspectly , not as fools but as wise, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

NLT Ephesians 5:15, 16, 17  So be careful how  you live.  Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.  Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.  Don’t act thoughtlessly but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
